Pellet Therapy for BHRT (Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy)
There are many applications available to assist men and women in optimizing their hormone levels utilizing BHRT. Pellet therapy is arguably the most convenient and consists of injecting small pellets (with a size similar to a grain of rice) comprised of bioidentical testosterone or estradiol under the skin and they slowly release the hormones over about a 3–4-month period of time. With the goal of gaining all the benefits of BHRT minus any of the possible side effects, we require testing to ensure optimal levels, and avoidance of converting to any less favorable metabolites. Pellets are not appropriate for all patients. During your consultation, a thorough medical history, your goals for therapy, lifestyle practices, and more will be discussed to achieve the best outcomes for you. If you choose to move forward with pellet therapy, a small incision will be made in either your buttock, hip, abdomen, or flank (your preference) and secured with steri-strips. No sutures are required but you will need to avoid immersion in water and heavy lifting for 2-3 days as the small incision heals. You are then free to simply enjoy the benefits for the next 3-4 months with ease!
