How Is the FLT Program Structured?
FirstLine® Therapy is a clinically proven, structured but user-friendly, 12-week program for men and women that can be customized to fit your unique needs and preferences.
Our FLT practitioner will work intensively with you to develop a prescription for nutrition and activity based on your current health status and goals.
The program combines a customized lifestyle prescription for healthy nutrition, activity, and stress reduction with nine weekly programs for education and support.
First, you’ll have a private consultation to get you started. You’ll work together to develop a program that fits your specific health needs.
Next comes our comprehensive health assessment, the Bioimpedance Analysis (BIA). This painless, full-body measurement of your lean and fat body mass will be used to develop your food and movement programs, and will be repeated at the six- and 12-week marks so you can see your progress.
We will also encourage you to have some baseline bloodwork (like cholesterol and blood sugar) done if you have not had it recently or if we identify special risk factors for you.
If you are not currently a patient at the DaSilva Institute, we’ll need you to furnish your last lab results (no older than six months) consisting at the minimum of lipids and a comprehensive metabolic panel.
Other markers that would be helpful in your evaluation are C-reactive protein, hemoglobin A1c, fasting insulin, and homocysteine.
Is There A Diet Involved?
The nutrition program you’ll get will be detailed and specific while still leaving you lots of room for choices. This is not a starvation diet — you will be eating quite a bit of food! You’ll get a book full of information, recipes, progress-recording sheets, and helpful ideas to take home with you.
You’ll work closely with your FLT practitioner and we predict the 12 weeks will seem to go quickly. Best of all, you will be able to measure the results — not just in weight loss, but in your lab work numbers!
